
Position Summary
Seven States Power Corporation (Seven States) seeks a highly motivated, consumer-focused leader to work with members and stakeholders to understand technology needs and manage resources to design, develop and deploy products and services to meet those requirements. As the Vice President of Grid Resiliency and Operations, the high-performing self-starter must have experience originating and managing project deployments of solar generation, battery storage systems, backup generation, and load management services.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain Seven States values of integrity, innovation, service, sustainability, and partnerships.
- Originate new opportunities for power supply solutions at both the generation and distribution scale that bring additional capacity to the region and enhance grid resiliency and grid modernization.
- Provide project management expertise to oversee day-to-day operations of significant projects and deliverables; prepare bid proposals; ensure scope, schedule and budget requirements are met; allocate project resources and coordinate workflows, manage financial performance and support reporting; commission assets. Track opportunities through project database and manage critical milestones.
- Support the growth of existing members and strengthen relationships with local utilities, large C&I consumers, stakeholder associations, and utilities nationwide.
- Collaborate with industry leaders and vendors who can advise on emerging technologies and supply innovative technology for project deployments.
- Coordinate with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), various industry stakeholders, and state agencies on the development/execution of energy-related products and services.
- Provide market intelligence and evaluation of various Distributed Energy Resources (DER) initiatives. Tasks may include development of ownership models, financing options, and data analytics to assess implementation of new product lines and services or ongoing operations.
- Thorough knowledge and monitoring of state and federal grant programs; lead grant application, submission, and administration processes for various projects.
- Support business development and marketing functions by providing technical information for educational materials; attend conferences and participate on panels; outreach efforts to potential new consumers.
- Provide presentations, webinars, and training on innovative solutions to various audiences such as staff, board of directors, members, stakeholders, and other forums as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or business-related field with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the energy industry (or equivalent experience) is required.
- Thorough understanding of electric utilities with experience in renewables, battery storage, large-scale generation, and load management services is required.
- Prior experience in project management or program design/deployment is required.
- Experience in power supply planning and load forecasting is preferred.
- Solid communication skills (verbal and written) and experience presenting to large audiences as well as one-on-one business meetings.
- Strong interpersonal skills to enhance relationships with Seven States team members and the utilities it serves; ability to work with and guide others.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote work environment.
- Position is full-time remote and candidate must reside in the Tennessee Valley Authority service area.
- Candidate must be willing to travel approximately 25% of the time.
