Helping Member-Owners Navigate Broadband Grant Applications
March 31, 2022

Thank you to our member-owners and panelists who joined our Middle Mile webinar in February!

As we work together to build a middle mile network that will interconnect local power companies (LPCs) across the Valley for both electric system and broadband benefits, Seven States facilitated a conversation on how LPCs can apply for middle mile infrastructure in their Tennessee grant application. We heard from a panel of grant experts on what infrastructure qualifies for the state grant and discussed the best language to include in applications that highlight middle mile efforts.

“It is important for LPCs to know that when they apply for last mile funding through state grants, they can also apply for middle mile funding. Being able to secure funding for both efforts enhances an LPC’s ability to build out fiber for electric system benefits and providing additional services to their customers,” said Clint Wilson, SVP Engineering & Market Innovation for Seven States.  “We will continue to provide guidance as we work together to interconnect LPCs across the Valley for both electric system and broadband benefits.”

The webinar guest speakers included:
Emily You: State of TN ECD, Broadband Grants Manager
Heather Mills: CTC Technology & Energy, VP Grant & Funding Strategies
Crystal Ivey: Knoxville Utilities Board, Fiber Broadband Team
Clint Wilson: Seven States, SVP Engineering & Market Innovation
